Do you have a way to pause a playback and ask a web application tester to check something manually before going on?

Yes, as it turns out eValid has special command that are used to give instructions and/or to comment about a test playback.

The MessageWindow command shows an HTML message in a box on the face of the screen that you can place anywhere you want. You can adjust how long it stays up on the screen before quietly disappearing.

The MessageBox command puts a modal dialog on the screen that contains a message to the user with the instruction to "Click OK" to continue.

You can read all about these commands, and see some samples at the Explanation of MessageBox, MessageWindows Commands page.
