The output of the SaveRecord command

Does the output of the SaveRecord command relative to bytes download depend on the level of detail selected in the Log Output options?

Yes, you have to have either Detailed or Standard turned on for the byte-counting software to work correctly. The Simple level throws away too much data for that option to work.

By the way, the Simple output level is one of the ways you can reduce the overhead imposed by eValid, which may typically be < 1% to almost zero.
