How to apply eValid to functional testing of web applications.

Application Survey Analysis

I have tried the below and they are found to be OK.
I have asked some questions below in "Things to be tried out are as follows"
section. Can you answer those questions?

1) Record option
(a) StartRecording
(b) Insert Recording
(c) Validate (Text box, Text Area, Radio button, List box)

2) Playback
(a) Start playback

3) Site Analysis (clicks of all links from the base URL - found one issue
with CAS - Need to
confirm with Dev team).
(a) Start analysis

4) Settings
(a) All the sub-menus under this main menu

5) Window
(a) Logs (All types of logs such as event logs, error logs etc.,)
(b) Graphs
(c) Script window

6) Editing the script & playback of the recording

Things to be tried out are as follows:-

1) Various types of wizards that are supported - Form wizard etc.,,
Can you let me know when we will use these types of wizard?
Entire Gui testing can be performed by using these wizards?

2) CallScript & GoScript
I saw the difference between the above two but how to return a value
for a script and then print the consolidated result like:
No of testcases executed : 10
No of tetscases passed : 8
No of testcases failed : 1
No of testcases not executed : 1

3) Batch execution
How to execute a bunch of .evs scripts?
I will write a single main.evs and then use multiple CallScript
(or) GoScript? Can u explain this in detail?

4) Validation of pop-up windows from parent window
Suppose clicking on a button takes me to a new a pop up window in which
I have to do the control validation. How to do this?

5) Using some more validation methods
Can u brief some more validation methods which are not common like
Text area, Text box, List box, Radio button, Combo box, Button etc.,,

6) I tried y'day with Site Analysis. It is not analysing all the links
available.
It is visiting some 20 links and says "Error: Session timed out: Re-login"
The above error is being observed in our code only. But I am not sure
why it is hapenning like this? I also changed some settings in
site analysis settings menu.

Here are the answers:

Question: 1)

Try them out to see what the generated in the recorded script.
The form wizard fills in a form, and the button wizard clicks
all the buttons on a page (leaving them set at the last visited
position). The link check wizard has four variations to check (visit)
detected links to validate them (that they exist).

Question: 2)

CallScript returns, but GoScript, which also can pass parameters,
does not return.

Regression test management is done from the eV.Manager component,
which can run 1000's of tests automatically, as described here:

Question: 3)

eValid has ~60 switches that control executions from the Windows command
line, described here:

http://www.e-Valid.com/Products/Documen ... rface.html

Question: 4)

Here is the complete description of eValid's Validation modes:

Question: 5)

eValid has a powerful built-in facility that lets you Validate
page properties in terms of the internal page DOM, and the capability
can also be used to set up Validations that apply Adaptive Playback
to prevent Validation failures when pages experience maintenance:

Question: 6)

If there is a "logout" link on a page the site analysis process will visit
it, with obvious effect. That typically stops the scan (you're no longer
logged in). You may need to instruct eValid (via the block ed URL list)
to not visit logout pages.
