Need help with a test script w/o showing password

How to apply eValid to functional testing of web applications.

Need help with a test script w/o showing password

Postby JGregory » Wed Dec 02, 2015 8:59 pm

Evening.

Late posting, my apologies.

I need to test a page that requires a login/password, but I don't want to reveal the password in the test script for security.

Can eValid offer a solution to my problem?

Thanks

It's a common question, and a fair concern JGregory.

There's no reason to give away passwords when there is a way to prevent it.

eValid provides a way to encode input text in a way that hides the "plaintext" from the user but provides the plain text to the eValid engine on playback.

This is done on the script window, where there is a switch to "Encode Input Text".

When you click this "ON" all input text is encoded one-way into the script, such that it is automatically extracted into plain text at playback time.

Here is the complete description of this feature:

One last reminder, you really should to this on only when you want to protect the data, because if you don't then EVERYTHING will be encoded.

This is sometimes a problem, so fair warning!
