Dynamically control playback script parameters

How to apply eValid to functional testing of web applications.

Dynamically control playback script parameters

Postby LamontL » Tue Dec 20, 2016 11:49 am

Hey.

You guys have a pretty slick product in eValid, but what I want to do is control some of the playback parameters dynamically, from with the playback script?

Is this possible to do with eValid?

Thanks

Thanks for the compliment...always good to hear LamontL.

As a matter of fact we did think about this requirement, and it is implemented in eValid as what we call a PlayValue command.

Here is the complete description of how this works in the eValid User Manual:

http://evalid.us/Products/Documentation ... value.html

As you can see, most of the timing functions can be adjusted "on the fly" within the script.

The powerful thing about this is that you can have the script timeout set for a larger value for some navigation, and for a smaller value for other user actions.

You can even dynamically adjust the global delay multiplier using the _PM option.

Also, in most cases the PlayValue commands have a correspoding command line switch.

It is usually the same name but we use _NAME for PlayValue and -NAME for the command line.
