Understanding wait times in eValid

How to apply eValid to functional testing of web applications.

Understanding wait times in eValid

Postby TApril » Mon Oct 30, 2023 11:49 am

Hello.

What is the story about "wait times" in eValid?

I have heard that you can vary these to make a functional test playback seem to be "more realistic"?

Can you provide me with a better understanding.

Thanks

Thanks for asking about the "wait times" TApril.

Well, of course we don't know precisely what is "more realistic" or "less realistic".

But here are some points to consider.

If you make a recording with "Real Time Recording" then the intervals between actions you take are recorded as Wait events so that at playback time the engine pauses that precise
amount of time.

Resolution is 1 msec, so that pretty realistic.

See:

So now you have a script with "realistic" timings, but you may want to put ceilings or floors or a constant multiplier (including zero) on those delays...there are lots of options here:

You get the idea...you have a lot of flexibility in tinkering with the timings.
