I'm testing different browsers' performance. How do you break down the data when you are doing this kind of experiment?

Unless you are running a VERY large and complex JavaScript application, we have found that the main variant of performance is the stack of boxes between the browser and the server.

In other words, browser behavior in terms of speed is a secondary function to the level of web service you have available to the browser.

So, the real answer to your question is that you really don't need to test browser performance in most cases...but instead should concentrate on testing the interactions betwen the browser and the web server that sends
it data in response to requests.

In this sense, eValid is an ideal test driver because it has the same low overhead of a browser (no big and ugly JavaScript to mess up performance) so that the measurements you make are truly representative of what a user will see.
