Login Recording

How to apply eValid to functional testing of web applications.

Login Recording

I have a site that requires a login. eValid records all of my actions apparently OK, but then the login fails when I play back my test. What did I do wrong?

Please don't be embarassed by this response: You probaly forgot to include logging out in your recording.

What's happened in your recording is this:

(1) You went to the login page.
(2) You typed in your credentials.
(3) Now logged in, you took some actions here and there.
(4) You stopped your recording.

The problem is, when you play this EXACT SEQUENCE BACK, without having restarted eValid or cleared the cache (or both), you are already logged in. So your (1) and (2) step would cause your test to FAIL.

Solution, add this step to your recording:

(5) Log out.

(The precise technical explanation is that eValid, being stateful, remembers your login and disallows a login on top of a login -- correctly enough.)
