Testing a Flash Site

How to use eValid to support regression testing.

Testing a Flash Site

Postby fergal » Wed Jan 14, 2009 2:18 pm

We're a two man software test consultancy show. I am currently evaluating tools to test flash websites for a client. I did try eValid today but it seemed to have difficulty with the technology I'm attempting to test (see the login page at http://www.(withheld-customer-site) for an example of the site characteristics).

I also have to admit that after having difficulties, I didn't get in touch with your support function as the price of the product was noticable. I do however understand the effort that goes into a tool like this and pricing must reflect this.

Thanks for the email though and I wish yourself and the product well.

Thanks for writing.

Flash objects are "opaque" to all testing systems, including eValid. None of the internal structure of a Flash object is visible from the outside. Because Flash objects are opaque they often present record/play difficulty, but they can be tested quite reliably with eValid.

For details see:

There's no away around that. With Flash you are stuck with Application Mode:

We are working on test automation for FLEX but we have no release date for that.

As a consultancy, we DO have special arrangements that will let you use eValid technology on a short term basis at substantial savings.

In addition, we have elided the usual requirement that the work product from eValid NOT be deliverable by you to your client, so you would be free with this type of license (called a Commercial License) to deliver your results as part of your work. See:

http://www.e-Valid.com/Alliances/TestSe ... unity.html

Let me know if this would be of interest. We are VERY keen to see eValid applied as broadly as possible.
