Can I filter my log files using eValid

Postby VinceC » Thu Feb 16, 2017 7:26 pm

Evening.

Can I filter the contents of my log files so I don't see so much detail?

Thanks

Good question VinceC

Indeed, sometimes the logfiles for tests of a website can be quite complicated and hard to read.

This is particularly true if the site has a lot of constituent pages.

Check out this manual page:

http://www.evalid.us/Products/Documenta ... lters.html

As you can see, you can filter the event log to included only specified types of messages or warnings, or you can specify your own filter string so that ONLY those log file entries that match (contain) the string are included.

Note also, as explained in this manual page:

http://www.evalid.us/Products/Documenta ... utput.html

You can choose three levels of detail in the logfile: simple or standard or detailed.

Try out the simple option and see if that meets your needs.
