Are the cache and values stored in the cookies that critical

Hiya.

Why do you guys put such importance on the content of the cache and the values stored in the cookies?

Why does it make a difference in the end result, anyway?

Thanks for posting ChrstieP.

It only makes a difference if you are concerned about the reproducibility of test results, from a known starting state.

If that's a concern, then no need to worry about the contents of the cache.

See this manual page, here:

http://e-valid.com/Products/Documentati ... ement.html

If the page you are currently timing -- as you do in monitoring it -- is already loaded then you are testing only the speed of the local machine to do the loading from a local copy.

To assure you are getting actual 'over the web' data you need to make sure you really DO download the page afresh.

Hope that answers you question.
