Multiple Named Sessions

Postby User9999 » Tue Sep 02, 2008 8:13 am

Here's what the issue is:

Some of the scripts I've created use evalid's "absolute mouse click"
feature. What's happening is as Hyperic launches different instances of
eValid (to test multiple sites) they end up getting in the way of each
other. Multiple instance of evaild running simple scripts works
perfectly. However, running multiple instance of evalid which use
'absolute mouse clicks' does not. Clickable areas are being covered by
other instances which causes the script to fail.

I think the only way around this is to run each instance of evalid under
a different user name. This way each script has its own desktop to use
and other windows won't cover clickable areas of a web page. So now my
problem is our license only allows 1 user to open multiple instances of
evalid (which is required for simple scripts). For scripts that use
evalid's advanced features I would require a license that allows
multiple users to run evaild.

Please advise

Thanks for posting...various items aimed at resolving this...

(1) Yes, you have the MULT feature so you can run multiple eValids
on your machines. But yes, also correct, only one user at a time.

There's a difference between one user, multiple copies and multiple-users.

(2) Also, yes, you're right: the desktop is always shared among
all eValid copies. Whenever you have actions that require the
desktop, you have to somehow serialize them.

(3) When you need to instruct an eValid script to grab control of the
desktop (e.g. when your script has to feed a mouse-click to an
Applet), you may need to use the Lock/Unlock command:

http://www.e-Valid.com/Products/Documen ... nlock.html

This serializes the usage of the desktop.

(4) Better would be to do the script independent of the desktop,
but if there is no DOM access to the thing you want to click...well,
you may be stuck with desktop access.

(5) Can you try to make the scripts "desktop safe"?

Scripts that are to be played back in multi-threaded monitoring playbacks,
or for multi-usr load test scenarios, may need to be "desktop safe"
to prevent one [or more] playbacks from interfering with each other.
The "desktop safe" mode for eValid playbacks is described here:

http://www.e-Valid.com/Products/Documen ... .safe.html

(6) We do have the EPRISEnn feature, which authorizes nn users...
