3D-SiteMap Operation

We heard you could generate a site map and then we see you can generate a 3D-SiteMap...can you explain what that is really good for...apart from the
"eye candy" value...and it certainly has that!

We want to know HOW to get some value from this pretty picture?

Thanks for asking, Mr. Dude.

Well, the main point about the 3D-SiteMap display is to capture in a very compact and flexible picture every fact about the between-page dependencies on a website.

You get, for the pivot node (which you can change around) the parents, the children, the parents of the parents and the children of the children, etc.

The way the display works is that it puts the box for any particular page at the lowest level such that all of the parents of that page are "above" it in
the picture.

The pictures "read" very easily...you can see what is what very quickly and after you have been working with these pictures you realize that you can tell a very great deal about how a website is connected by looking at the 3D dependence picture. Basically, the pictures help your intuition...
