Will eValid check wizard find dynamic webpage links

Postby SandraS » Mon Nov 06, 2017 1:27 pm

Afternoon.

Does your eValid link check wizard find links that are constructed dynamically in a page?

That's is how our webmasters have set-up the test website to try out any software testing tools.

Thanks

Fair question SandraS.

First, here is the detail on using the Link Check command:

http://www.evalid.us/Products/Documenta ... check.html

Second, how does this work?

In this case, eValid checks the current page for all "anchor tags" and for each one creates a command that navigates to the specified URL.

The command is then written to the script file (which is created dynamically by eValid).

Fair warning, on some pages the actual URL text can be quite complex.

But, the complete detail is put into the script file nevertheless.

Reading the script file might be a challenge in those cases.

If actual links are constructed dynamically, no problem, but you need to make sure that the page is fully stabilized before you run the command.

You MAY need to wait several seconds after navigating to a page for this to happen.

Note: If eValid does not see a complete URL in an anchor tag there is the possibility that the resulting command written to the script file will be invalid.

But that is what you would expect, yes?
