Thanks for posting your question MichealF.

Broken links in a website can sometimes mean trouble -- especially if the page it refers to is a vital component of the website.

A feature built into eValid's Site Mapping capability is the ability to map every page it visits to find broken links in a website.

It'll do this even if the pages are dynamically generated by the server.

(1) From the eValid browser toolbar click on: "eValid > Site Analysis Mode > Site Analysis Preferences" to bring up the SiteMap Preferences Menu.

(2) Click and change the Search Depth to "2".

(3) Click "Full Browser Mode" in the control section of the preferences.

This lets you see how eValid visits each and every link on the page to check if the link is broken or not.

(4) Click "Never Use Cache" in the Cache Control Section of the preferences so eValid will download and render each component of the page for the most accurate result.

(5) Click on "Define Filters" and select "Broken or Unavailable Pages"

(6) Navigate to the website you want to analyze.

Start the SiteMap search for broken links by clicking on the Site Map icon or F3.

Remember: SiteMap will search only the URLs at and below the starting URL.

(7) For fun, your might try doing a depth = 2 broken link SiteMap search on www.cnn.com.

Do you find their site has any broken links?

Hint: Expect to find broken/unavailable links on any site that is undergoing rapid changes.
