Can you give me some advice on how to get the most out of a LoadTest machine?
I am trying to safety see how much our server can manage our website browser load limits?

eValid generates server load with full fidelity by playing back scripts on your load generation machine with multiple parallel executing copies of eValid.
To get maximum performance you'll need to make several adjustments to your machine.
We normally are able to run at least 100 simultaneous full fidelity browsers on a 500+ MHz P-III machine with 256 MB of RAM.
Your mileage may vary; we have had up to 250 running but that may be an exceptional situation.
* Machine Properties:
Our old baseline machine for eValid LoadTest runs on a P-III, 850 MHz with 512 MB of RAM, with a Video RAM of 64 MB.
The baseline OS is Windows 2000 with the latest service packs.
These days you get a LOT more performance form a single machine.
* Virtual Memory:
You have to increase the amount of space available in Virtual Memory upward.
A setting of 900 MB is a good value to use.
* Heap Space:
You have to adjust the amount of heap space upward.
A setting of 32,768 seems to be about right.
* Optimize Desktop:
You should select NT/2000 desktop settings to "Optimize Performance for Background Services".
* Video Card Characteristics:
You may have problems if your video card has too little memory.
We recommend a video card with at least 64 MB of SDRAM.
