What is the difference between concurrent users, simultaneous users, and running users?

This is one of those questions where the answer may be due to major misinterpretations. Unfortunately, there is no "language cop" who makes sure the terms have fixed meanings. The best we can do here is give you what they mean relative to eValid's view.

Two users are concurrent if they are signed on to an application at the same time and are doing something -- even waiting (thinking).

If they are concurrent, then their activities are "simultaneous" so in this sense the terms are equivalent.

From eValid's point of view, a "running user" may or may NOT be someone who
is logging into a website and doing something. You could have 50 eValid BUs running, doing navigation or generally fiddling around, but not doing something meaningful, that is, not logged into an application a performing work.

It's hoped this helps clarify these terms.
