The number of BUs that can be run on a single user is about 100 -- maybe a bit more, but 100 BUs is a safe figure.

So the total number of BUs you can run on a Virtual Machine (VM image) really depends on the number of different users that machine can have and its overall capacity.

As good as eValid's scaling is, at the end of the day all of the BUs that are running have to be supported by some fraction (a portion) of the CPU capacity of the underlying computer. We find that a very large, multi-core image that we regularly use "in the cloud" runs 1,000 BUs with little difficulty.
