Dynamic Access to sourceIndex and elementValue values

Postby Rafe08 » Sat Mar 28, 2009 8:20 am

Hey, guys, I tried to put $sourceIndex and $elementValue into my script so that the stuff I looked up could be acted upon but it didn't work.

What did I do wrong? Give me an example of how you write it so it DOES work correctly?

Thanks for asking about this.

You've got it almost perfect.

The correct syntax to use is $_SourceIndex and $_ElementValue.

Yes, we know that these internal values are always described
in the documentation as "sourceIndex" and "elementValue" but we found
that the Reserved Variables feature requires an unusual syntax trick
in that the "$" has to be followed by the "_" and that in turn
has to be followed by a CAPITAL letter.

As soon as we can we'll try to fix up the documentation to better
match what the Reserved Variables needs to see.
