A fair question, considering the very-great sophistication of this email application -- it is the equal or superior in complexity and supported features to other currently popular email systems such as those offered by Yahoo! and Google.

Indeed, such a sophisticated JavaScript application seems to defy and confound most automated testing solutions. But eValid, with a little bit of careful setup and scripting, handles the www.Outlook.com email application without difficulty.

Here is the key reference that shows our illustrative example: Testing Microsoft Outlook.com Email. It shows the eValid script and a series of screenshots illustrating script playback success.

The main points of the demo are that the navigation in the application had to be done with eValid's structural testing commands. Briefely, this is the eValid capability to dig into the DOM of the page, to synchronize tes playback on the arrival of specified DOM elements (element values), and to search the DOM for parts of the rendered pages that are known to be constant, even when the content of the displayed pages changes drastically. Insofar as possible, however, we used visble text synchronizations (the can be recorded directly from the eValid GUI into the script). But for certain passages in the test plan the use of the structured testing commands was the only solution.
