General eValid Use

Postby winreg » Mon Sep 15, 2008 10:31 am

My Eval key ran out today. As I said before, I enjoyed the product.

I did not use all the features, For example, I never
used the programming extension, I simply edited the generated scripts (e.g. to change wait times).

This tool is record-playback oriented. It would be hard
(perhaps even not possible)to write scripts from scratch,
which seems to be a trend with some automation specialists these days. Note that I don't consider myself one of them, so for me a good record-playback engine is a bonus.

Perhaps it was a limitation of the Eval key, but I was unable to generate loadtests with more than 1 user
using the GUI. I worked around this my editing the loadtest file, adding the -eValid commands manually.

I was caught by surprise, as I thought the Eval key
would be valid one more day. If it was possible to extend it by just one day, that would be great, otherwise it's not a big deal.

I got pricing information from the web site. I don't have specific questions about it. Feel free to send me
additional info about it.

Thanks for writing...

We'll send a new key right away...

Yes, it IS a record play engine, and it is (we believe)
a good one.

We do NOT advocate scripting from scratch...but we do
encourage recording and then editing and modifying for
special effects. For AJAX it seems that this is necessary.

eValid is aimed at reducing work, not increasing it (as seems
to be the case for the pure-scripting approach).

By the way, you can globally change the wait times with a
multiplier, floor, and ceiling value from the settings.

Yes, the EVAL/EVAUTO has a 10-wide limitation...that limit
is not present in the revenue key. That is the total number
of sub-eValid's you can launch...is that the limit you mention?
