The idea of Google Page Speed is to identify individual components in a page that is downloaded into your browser in terms of their download size and, as a result, their download speed. You can increase the speed of browsing your site by minimize these "big offenders".

In this regard, eValid's "detailed timings" option does 99% of what the Google Page Speed calculations do, and it does it a little bit better: the download gimings that eValid generates are done from within the end-user brower -- your eValid browser -- so the actual byte-count and download speed is measured, rather than predicted.

The other aspect of Google Page Speed is the [possibly, fully mechanical] reorganization of the page structure to miminize download speed, and there are very good guidelines that you follow to improve performance. For example, JavaScript links ought to be near the bottom of the page to force them to be loaded last, etc.

In this area, eValid detaile timings shows the actual order in which page components are completely loaded -- and this offers the advantage of letting you see whether a possible relocation of a LINK reference would yield an improvement in performance.
