We used to offer public courses but we found that a very general introduction that met the needs of multiple users wasn't very effective for each individual.
Most of the time, individual testers asked questions about THEIR needs...and we quickly found ourselves boring 90% of the attendees while informing 10% of them.
So, now, in particular with the advances in electronic meeting support (like GotoMeeting or WebEx) we generally do only targeted, training/consulting sessions with 1-3 people attending. Our time and the attendees' time is better spent that way.
