Opinion on Seleunium/Webdriver

Postby ShannonS » Thu Feb 12, 2015 4:40 pm

Afternoon:

We love eValid but our boss says we have to convert to the "free" Selenium/Webdriver system. In doing this we have great test specifications -- all of our eValid scripts. They're great "test specs!"

But, please tell us what you think about converting those scripts into VB code to drive the browser using WebDriver or Selenium?

Thanks

Glad to know your users likes eValid.

If you are a licensed user you are free to use eValid to develop a test script that you can play back in eValid and use it as well to play it back in any other environment.

We prefer to have you use eValid's THIN playback option because it is quicker and more reliable that WebDriver.

It takes up a smaller footprint, and comes ready-made with a command line interface.

We agree, eValid tests make an excellent test prototype.

But, there is a licensing problem.

It turns out there is a specific clause in the standard eValid license agreement that deals with this.

Here is the license:

Clause 5(j) addresses this question: you should not use a paid eValid license to develop scripts that you SELL to customers who are not licensed to run eValid.

That clause would be removed if, however, you have an eValid Commercial License that absolves you of the requirements of clause 5(j).

Contact us to find out about availability.
