How is it that the DashBoard can interact with eValid when the browser is locked up with a modal dialog?

As you know, when a web applications throws a modal dialog you cannot type on the desktop face anywhere except in the window that is "modal".

The eValid developers thought of this and that is one reason why the Dashboard exists. It can reside on the desktop and can communicate to the browser even when there is a modal dialog present. The technical details of how this is done are complex, but you can think of it as a kind of side-door connection into the eValid executable that is independent of what kinds of actions the browser takes.

In the case of a modal dialog you can turn on application mode and/or absolute mouse clicks from the dashboard.

(Note, in most cases you can also do this with eValid's function key shortcuts, but in some applications even those are made unavailable to the modal dialog. It depends on the application.)
