What gives with HTML5 and with touch screen support?
Thanks
Thanks for asking and welcome to our forum.
That's a fair question.
There are two main things about HTML5: The addition of new kinds of tags, and the interaction with a touch screen.
If you look closely, most of the action you take on a touch screen readily translate into similar actions on a regular (that is, non-touch) screen.
The familiar "pinch" and "swipe" really are forms of drag/drop sequences and/or screen size adjustments that usually are performed with CTRL-+ and CTRL-- keyboard actions.
From the point of view of testing, then, you really have nothing that is new -- once you look under the covers.
Of couse we welcome HTML5 and it will be interesting to see where this goes -- every indication is that it will be VERY interesting.
But, to put things in perspective: HTML5, relative to testing technology, is a relatively small increment of new features over the current versions of HTML.
