The eValid engine is a clone of IE and the main way we ascertain that is by comparing the HTML that is delivered to eValid with that which is delivered to the underlying IE browser.

There are special commands in eValid to deliver the fully downloaded HTML and we can use similar methods to read the entire content of the IE interpretation of the same page.

The downloaded material -- what comes over the wire and affects how a page looks and feels -- is identical.

Second, the run-time behavior characteristics of eValid have been studied very carefully and the entire product has been designed from the ground up to "add nothing" and "take away nothing". That means that when IE has a but then eValid has the same bug -- not that there are that many bugs in IE these days.

The architecture from the outside looking in, from eValid's view and from IE's view is the same: They both rely on the Trident Rendering Engine. So the interior executional behavior of the two products is identical.

The area when they are non-identical is in the GUI that surrounds the internal browsing engine and here we have to rely on A to B comparisons of time and space. Our experiments show that when there are performance differences they are in the order of 1 part in 1,000 overall. That is a strong enough reference point that we can claim that eValid and the IE that underlies it are identical for all practical purposes.
