eValid Behavior

Discussion of the technology underlying the eValid solution.

eValid Behavior

Postby UserD » Wed Oct 22, 2008 1:39 pm

With the scripts we have written, we want to test if our web site is IE 6 AND
IE 7 fully compliant by running ours scripts on IE6 and IE7. So I want to
know how does eValid can test it. Is there a option where we can choose the
version of Internet Explorer eValid is testing? Or does eVaild is working
with the IE version installed on my computer? Since I can only have a
version of IE on my computer, is this mean I must have two licenses of
eValid to run my scripts on IE6 and on IE7?

Thank you for your help.

eValid sits on top of the currently installed IE DLLs.

If your machine has IE6 on it, then eValid acts like IE6.
If your machine has IE7 on it, then eValid acts like IE7.

Sorry, that's not a selection in eValid.

So, you could retro install IE6 and then eValid would look
like IE6. But that is inconvenient.

But...you can tell eValid to pretend it is a different browser
(with respect to the server)...

* eValid has a command that can be used to set the user agent string to
any value. This command makes it possible to cause eValid to report to
a server that it is ANY kind of browser, a feature that is useful for
validation of web applications beyond the IE context that eValid supports:

* Here is an illustration of how effective eValid's SetUserAgent string
can be in testing applications that involve multiple browser types:
