How does "geometric testing" as you describe it differ from screen scraping?

In eValid a test is termed a "geometric test" if it pivots for synchronization of for user input upon some feature of a web page based on its location on the page that is invarient over time -- that is, through natural changes to the page such as what happens in maintenance and/or application upgrades.

If you have such a test running in eValid it is probably able to operate entirely without access to the desktop screen. In fact, you can easily demonstrate this by launching the eValid Dashboard, which will let you run a playback in the eValid browser with the browser minimized. You'll see that the behavior of the test is independent of what is on the screen.

Obviously, then, this doesn't involve screen scraping because if the test works without a screen, well, that means there is nothing there to scrape.
