swtesting wrote:As you noticed I downloaded the eval version of
eValid for the purpose of load testing one of our internal applications.
The challenge for this one is that it is Web 2.0, Ajax based (widgets)
and standard testing tools are often not able to handle it.
I was able to go through some of your documentation and create one
functional and one load test script (that uses this functional one).
Glad to hear it. eValid has a natural advantage in that it truly
*IS* a browser, as you now can see.
FYI, eValid has special commands that can be used to achieve playback
synchronization based on internal properties of pages, a capability
that is essential in certain AJAX implementations:

1) Regarding Load test scripts - are they executed in parallel, in
sequence or with some distribution pattern? If I create load test script
which has 10 instances of the same functional script - how are these
scripts executed under FULL, THIN or LITE Load Type?
FULL and THIN are 100% identical behavior at playback time -- full
fidelity. THIN has a smaller footprint and usually is the one to
use for large numbers of playbacks in parallel (e.g. 150-200+).
LITE is URL-only. LITE runs only a subset of eValid commands,
and is used mostly to generated "background navigational load"
when you're contentrating on the stateful user sessions in the
foreground.
swtesting wrote:2) What is the license model and cost for eValid? The group that I am in
has 3 developers (plus 2 more soon) and we will probably have 1-2 people
running load tests.
When you have eValid installed on a machine that same license can
be used/accessed in a variety of ways by other users on your LAN,
described in detail here:
http://www.e-Valid.com/Products/License ... tions.htmlFor that group maybe 2-3 Functional Test Bundles (FTBs) to develop
tests on, and maybe 1-2 Sever Loading Bundles (SLBs, which
include the SLB features as a subset), depending on your needs.
The prices are on the web as you have not doubt seen; there are
special quantity prices also. Tell me more about your specifics.
